Приходится отметить, что при изложении этого сюжета автор допустил несколько неточностей и анахронизмов. Так, Амфиполис, будучи когда – то афинским, отбиваясь от спартанцев, перешел под власть македонян лет почти за сто до описываемых событий. Филипп ненадолго выводил оттуда войска в 359 году до н. э., задолго до Филократова мира, в качестве жеста доброй воли по отношению к Афинам.
Филократов мир был заключен в 346 году до н. э., т. е. значительно позже. Тогда решались сложные вопросы, шла Священная война, между Афинами, Фивами, Фокидой и пр. завязался клубок противоречий, а про Амфиполис даже не упоминалось.
